The Seattle Mariners powered past the Houston Astros, 8-7, at Minute Maid Park. Glenn Wright provided some of the pop. Buckshot was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Bobby Jenks picked up the save, his 6th. Houston is 11-14 after the defeat.

Seattle used the timely hitting of Wendell Magee to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mariners on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Magee described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
