The Minnesota Twins knocked off the Chicago (N) Cubs, 9-2, at Metropolitan Stadium. Pat McNulty was a big reason Minnesota won. The left fielder was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win went to Joe Bonikowski in relief, making him now 1-1. Matt Albers took the loss for Chicago (N). The win has Minnesota at 10-14.

The Cubs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Twins going into the bottom of the seventh inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old center fielder Gene Kingsale came to the plate. Kingsale hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch fastball from Chicago (N) hurler Matt Albers. It was Kingsale's 5th double of the year.
