Starting pitcher Jerome Williams pitched well enough to help the Colorado Rockies beat the New York (A) Yankees, 6-5. Justin Garza was called on to finish, recording his 6th save. So far, the 2001 season has been disappointing for New York (A), now 10-14.

The Rockies got a big at-bat from catcher Johnny Edwards. For the game, Edwards was 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Colorado a 2-1 lead.
