Expos Get 8-3 Win Versus San Francisco
|
The Montreal Expos picked up a win at Eclipse Park, dropping the San Francisco Giants, 8-3. James Kaprielian was the difference-maker. In 6 innings, Kaprielian surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. San Francisco is now 12-12.
Montreal used the clutch hitting of Eddie Mathews to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Expos ahead, 8-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"James gave us a heck of an effort," said Montreal manager Marwan Najdawi.
