Sawatski 3-for-4 in Chicago (N) Win

The Chicago (N) Cubs stormed past the Philadelphia Phillies, 12-4, at Veterans Stadium. Chicago (N) catcherCarl Sawatski , who is tied for 2nd in the NL with a .375 batting average, led the hit parade. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Kirk Rueter picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 3-1. The loss makes Philadelphia 13-9.
The Cubs got a big hit from third baseman Pat Kelly. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Tyler Danish in the top of the ninth, Kelly pounded a bases-clearing double to right-center. His 8th double of the season put the Cubs ahead, 12-4.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Sawatski said after the game.
