Miami got a terrific game from center fielder George Case. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Houston, 7-6. Case was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win was credited to 26-year old right-handed pitcher George Frazier in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Buck Farmer took the loss. The Marlins fall to 7-15.

The decisive blow was delivered by Joe Orsulak in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off fireballing right-hander Buck Farmer to win the game for Houston. The home crowd went nuts.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Orsulak, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
