Miami Dispatched, 7-4, by Houston
|
Houston and Miami duked it out and the Astros came out victorious.
Houston designated hitter George Arias contributed significantly to his team's 7-4 win over the Miami Marlins. Arias, who is rated as the 77th best prospect by BNN, went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Astros. Luis Castillo, the winning pitcher, is now 3-1. He went 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2. Blake Parker was called on to finish, recording his 7th save.
With Houston leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Arias hit a sinker from Dick Ellsworth for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Astros ahead, 3-0.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Arias told the Houston Bulletin.
The Marlins drop to 7-14 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2001 season.
