Montreal Hangs 7-2 Loss on Arizona
|
Montreal right fielder Rafael Palmeiro was instrumental in helping the Expos triumph, 7-2, over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Palmeiro went 2-2 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. John Dopson, the winner, is now 3-1. He struck out 8 and walked 2 over 8 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Montreal goes to 10-9.
The Expos got a big at-bat from center fielder Gerardo Parra. For the game, Parra was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave Montreal a 3-1 lead.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Montreal manager Marwan Najdawi.
