Marlins Absorb 5-2 Home Loss
|
The Chicago (N) Cubs got a stellar performance from pitcher Kirk Rueter, who handcuffed the Miami offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Miami Park. Rueter picked up the win for Chicago (N), going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. The Marlins, now 5-13, continue their poor start.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from left fielder Tim Raines. For the game, Raines went 1 for 4 with a triple and was hit by a pitch. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Chicago (N) a 2-1 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Raines told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
