Giants Drop Close One Late
The Miami Marlins knocked off the San Francisco Giants, 6-5, at Eclipse Park. It took 10 innings. Derek Bell was a prime reason Miami won. The first baseman went 2-4 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The Marlins, now 5-11, have not found much traction so far in 2001.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Alex Dickerson came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing San Francisco pitcher Garrett Olson, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Miami on top, 6-5.

"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Bell.
