Morton Leads St. Louis Past New York (N)
|
The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Busch Stadium, courtesy of Kevin Morton. The left-hander helped his team stop the New York (N) Mets, 3-1. Joe Genewich was credited with the save, his 23rd in 30 tries. St. Louis, with the win, is 56-106.
The Mets had few good swings against Morton, the left-hander, who threw 102 pitches over 8 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits.
"Kevin never lets off the gas," said St. Louis manager David Mandel. "Good, bad, or ugly, he never gives in."
