Spirited fans greeted the Montreal Expos for their clash with the Miami Marlins.

The Miami Marlins beat the Montreal Expos, 9-6, at Stade Olympique. The win was due in part to center fielder George Case, who went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was Brayan Bello, who threw 108 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits. David Robertson got the save, his 17th in 18 chances.

Buddy Lewis had a big 2-run double for the Marlins in the top of the second inning. With Miami leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a curveball from Lefty West, who led the AL in saves with 39 in 1992, and swatted a double to center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Marlins ahead, 3-0.

Afterward, Montreal manager Marwan Najdawi said: "We've hit a rough patch."
