New York (A) Slaps 5-1 Loss on Minnesota
|
New York (A) Yankees starter Rich Nye pitched a strong game against the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium, leading the Yankees to victory, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Nye, now 7-10. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. New York (A) is now 75-85, while Minnesota is 87-73.
Nolan Reimold had a big 2-run home run for the Yankees in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New York (A) leading 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Gardiner and punished it. The result was his 32nd home run of the season, which put the Yankees on top, 5-1.
Reimold called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
