White Sox Turn Back Texas, 8-7
|
The Chicago (A) White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers, 8-7, at Globe Life Field. Leading the charge for Chicago (A) was left fielder Dick Williams. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Harry Kelley earned the win for Chicago (A). He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. Bill Scherrer, who is a four-time All-Star, nailed down the save.
Chicago (A) first baseman Daric Barton contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 18th hit of the season and put the White Sox ahead, 8-1.
Chicago (A) manager Steven Ejercito was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
The White Sox keep rolling, raising their record to 13-4.
