Houston Wastes Great Game by Cordero
|
The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place New York (N) Mets.
The Houston Astros got a superb performance from shortstop Wil Cordero, but the New York (N) Mets still won the game, 6-3. Cordero hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. New York (N) is now 111-46, 14 games up in the National League.
The Mets got a big at-bat from left fielder Dick Allen. For the game, Allen was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 34th home run of the season gave New York (N) a 2-0 lead.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said New York (N) manager Jamie Dagostini.
