Griffey Stars for Phillies in 6-2 Win
|
Philadelphia right fielder Ken Griffey contributed significantly to his team's 6-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. Griffey, who led the NL in runs with 129 in 1998, went 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Phillies. Chris Archer got credit for the win, improving to 11-8. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 7.1 innings. The current losing streak for San Francisco has reached 7 games.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Griffey hit a 2-run home run off Phil Ortega. It propelled the Phillies into the lead, 2-0.
"This game is going to humble you at times and you've got to man up and deal with it," said San Francisco manager Jake Fegan.
