Boston Red Sox starter Aaron Small pitched effectively against the Chicago (N) Cubs at Fenway Park. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 7-5 win. Luis Avilan was credited with the save, his 22nd in 24 tries. Boston, with the win, climbs to 52-104.

Boston took a 6-5 lead on Harlin Pool's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Pool hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Chicago (N) pitcher Clyde King visibly frustrated.

"Even if things get a little hairy, Aaron trusts his ability," said Boston manager Doug Morton.
