Chicago (N) shortstop Jack Rothrock had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Rothrock went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3, even as Milwaukee beat the Cubs, 9-8. Milwaukee reliever Shawn Tolleson was the winner. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was Mike Stanton. The Brewers now have a record of 57-95 with the win over Chicago (N).

The decisive blow was delivered by Orlando Miller in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off fireballing left-hander Mike Stanton to win the game for Milwaukee. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Miller said.
