The Detroit Tigers beat the Colorado Rockies by a score of 10-9. Detroit right fielder Bobby Higginson deserved the lion's share of the credit. Higginson was 4 for 7 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Tigers. Chuck James recorded the save, his 5th. The win for the Tigers lifted their record to 82-69.

The game was all tied up in the top of the 17th, until Higginson delivered big-time for Detroit, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Greg Bollo. The game-changing hit put the Tigers on top, 10-9.
