Win Lifts Expos to 94-57
|
Behind an impressive start by John Dopson, Montreal beat Boston, 3-2. Dopson, the winner, moves to 12-9. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. The save was credited to Danny Patterson, his 17th.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Rafael Palmeiro? The Montreal right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Expos on top, 2-1. For the game, Palmeiro had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Montreal manager Marwan Najdawi.
The win lifted the Montreal record to 94-57.
