Cardinals Win, 5-3, Versus Texas
|
The St. Louis Cardinals had to overcome a fine effort from Texas pitcher Jesse Litsch to win, 5-3, at Globe Life Field. Litsch went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Ed Fallenstein earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-2. The Cardinals raised their record to 54-96.
Jake Early came through with a big-time hit for St. Louis. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
St. Louis manager David Mandel praised his team's "energy."
