Scott Hits Two Homers in 5-1 Win for New York (N)
|
New York (N) designated hitter George Scott helped his team beat the Minnesota Twins, 5-1. Scott, who finished 2nd in the AL in RBI with 152 in 1999, went 2 for 4 for the Mets. New York (N) leads the National League by 15 games.
With New York (N) leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Scott hit a fastball from Rick Rhoden for a 3-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Mets ahead, 5-1.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Scott.
