LaRoche 3-for-4, Leads Expos to Win
|
The Montreal Expos downed the San Francisco Giants, 7-6. The hitting star was first baseman Adam LaRoche. LaRoche went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Expos. Montreal pitcher Doug McWeeny got the win. He's now 13-8. Oliver Drake was tagged with the loss. The Giants, at 61-84, have lost 5 in a row.
George Shuba, who is a 11-time All-Star, helped out the Montreal cause in the top of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the designated hitter went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk.
In comments to the Montreal Chronicle, Shuba admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
