Hubbell Hurls Complete Game, Tigers Win, 5-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers get after it.
The Detroit Tigers locked up a win at Tiger Stadium, knocking off the Minnesota Twins, 5-1. On the mound for Detroit was left-hander Carl Hubbell. He played a major role in the triumph. With the win, Detroit pushed its record to 77-66.
Hubbell, the winner, is now 6-1. In 9 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 4 hits, while collecting 12 Ks. He essentially shut down the Minnesota offense.
"Carl made some big pitches when he needed to," said Tigers manager Nick Puccio.
