Baltimore Nets 3-2 Win Versus White Sox
|
The Baltimore Orioles knocked off the Chicago (A) White Sox, 3-2, in American League action at Comiskey Park. Baltimore pitcher and Hollywood, Florida, native Mike Fiers had an outstanding performance. Fiers picked up the win for Baltimore, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 6-4. Jonny Venters earned his 26th save in 30 chances.
Tommy Brown came through with a big-time hit for Baltimore. The first baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Tough loss," said Chicago (A) manager Steven Ejercito. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
The win puts Baltimore at 74-70 this season.
