Mariners Absorb 6-1 Home Loss
|
Bobby Richardson was a vital contributor to the 6-1 St. Louis victory over Seattle. The Cardinals second baseman was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Kyle Gibson locked down his 1st save. The Cardinals, with just their 4th win so far in 2001, have yet to catch fire.
St. Louis grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Richardson hit a 2-run home run off Dustin Hermanson. His 1st home run of the season put the Cardinals out in front, 3-1.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Cardinals manager David Mandel. "This one was nice to get."
