Baltimore Tacks 5-4 Loss on New York (A)
|
The Baltimore Orioles topped the New York (A) Yankees, 5-4, in American League action at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The game was highlighted by the performance of Baltimore pitcher Ron Kline. Jonny Venters, who finished 5th in the AL in saves with 26 in 1996, earned the save for Baltimore. The Orioles saw their record improve to 71-69.
Gary DiSarcina, who finished 3rd in the AL in triples with 8 in 1998, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out and the bases loaded, the Baltimore shortstop hit a 2-run single. That put the Orioles in front, 5-3.
Baltimore manager Andre Ivarsson praised his team's "businesslike approach."
