Mets Send Texas Home with 12-5 Loss
The first-place New York (N) Mets took on the Texas Rangers in front of a spirited crowd.

Getting offensive support from Dick Allen, the New York (N) Mets topped the Texas Rangers, 12-5. Allen went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Mets. The winning pitcher was Ray Bare. He's now 9-6. He went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 11 hits for the Mets.

The Mets got a big hit from second baseman Billy Werber. In the bottom of the sixth, Werber smacked a 3-run home run off Texas pitcher Jesse Litsch. It was his 10th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Mets were ahead, 6-5.

"Dick was ready to go. Big day for him," said New York (N) manager Jamie Dagostini.

With the win, the Mets sit at 95-40.
