Colorado pitcher Jim Golden had a large part in his team subduing the Minnesota Twins, 8-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. With the win, Colorado has a record of 82-55. Minnesota falls to 75-60.

Colorado used the timely hitting of Snuffy Stirnweiss to capture the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rockies on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

"Jim did a heck of a job," said Colorado manager Ben Thompson.
