Giants Solve Guardians, 6-3
|
Cleveland got a decent performance from pitcher Foster Edwards, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Francisco Giants. San Francisco won the Eclipse Park contest, 6-3. Edwards threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Phil Ortega went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in innings pitched with 189.2, struck out 2 and walked 3. With the win, he's now 11-11 this season. The 8th-place Giants now have a win-loss record of 57-77.
Will Brennan had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the third for San Francisco. With the bases loaded and the Giants leading 3-2, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Brennan.
