Guardians Drop Giants, 8-2
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 1998 Rookie of the Year Award winner Clay Dalrymple, the Cleveland Guardians stopped the San Francisco Giants, 8-2. Derek Holland picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-11. He struck out 6 in 6 innings. San Francisco has now lost 5 consecutive games.
With Cleveland leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Dalrymple hit a fastball from Ben Hendrickson for a solo home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Guardians ahead, 2-0.
"I'm just out there trying to have as much fun as I can while I'm playing," Dalrymple told the Cleveland Herald.
