Expos Get 8-6 Win Versus Philadelphia
The Montreal Expos knocked off the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-6, at Stade Olympique. Geronimo Pena was a big reason Montreal won. The second baseman was 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk. Lefty West, now 3-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Danny Patterson got the save, the 14th for him this season.

George Shuba drew 1 walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Montreal. The slugging left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Joel Zumaya. It was his 86th RBI of the season.
