Mets Nudge Past Expos, 4-3
|
The New York (N) Mets racked up a win at Shea Stadium, bumping off the Montreal Expos, 4-3, in 10 innings. Ray Bare, who started for New York (N), pitched effectively for his team. The win went to Bill Gogolewski in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Danny Patterson took the loss. The Mets lead the National League by 6½ games.
New York (N) got a knockout punch from Ha-seong Kim. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Bare.
