Red Sox Suffer One-Run Loss at Minnesota
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox, Rick Rhoden, who finished 3rd in the AL in wins with 18 in 1998, proved to be the difference. The Minnesota right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Twins win. Brusdar Graterol got the save, the 28th for him this season. The Twins have now won 12 straight.
The Twins got a big at-bat from left fielder Pat McNulty. For the game, McNulty was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 18th home run of the season gave Minnesota a 2-1 lead.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Minnesota manager Dan Hornbaker.
