In an outstanding mound performance, New York (N) Mets starter Don Drysdale fired a complete-game shutout against the Miami Marlins at Shea Stadium.

Drysdale was the key to the 9-0 New York (N) win. The 21-year-old right-hander was in high spirits for much of the game, his mood largely unfazed by the 5 hits and no walks he allowed.

"5 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout."

Thus far this season, Drysdale has tossed 185.1 innings in 25 starts, fanned 198 batters, walked 41 and put up a 2.48 ERA with 18 wins and 3 losses.
