Rangers Score Late, Topple Brewers, 6-4
|
2001 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Texas Rangers beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-4, at Globe Life Field. Texas first baseman Zeke Bonura had the hot bat. He was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. Texas reliever Mark Leiter Jr. picked up the win, raising his record to 6-4. Jeff Montgomery was tagged with the loss. Felix Heredia wrapped it up, recording his 28th save.
Cleveland, Ohio-born Joe Vosmik came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Rangers trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to right-center to put Texas on top.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Bonura told the Texas News.
The victory puts Texas at 52-76.
