Cardinals Continue Skid, Thanks to LaRoche, Expos
The Montreal Expos used the hitting of first baseman Adam LaRoche to subdue the St. Louis Cardinals, 12-10. For the game, LaRoche was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. T.J. McFarland was credited with the save, his 9th in 11 tries. The win puts Montreal at 82-44 this season.

Billy Goodman had a big 2-run double for the Expos in the top of the third inning. With Montreal trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Johnny Welch, who is tied for 10th in the NL in innings pitched with 166.2, and swatted a double to right. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Expos ahead, 2-1.

"Crazy game," said Goodman after it ended.
