The Colorado Rockies faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher Jose Rijo, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Veterans Stadium by a final score of 4-1. Rijo went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Darrell Rasner came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 8-0. Greg Bollo earned the save for Colorado , his 16th.
Colorado used a timely hit from Andres Torres to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rockies ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Torres.
Colorado is now 75-53, Philadelphia 68-58.
