Mets Earn 7-5 Win Versus Miami
|
The New York (N) Mets defeated the Miami Marlins, 7-5, at Shea Stadium. New York (N) left fielder Dick Allen had a superb performance. He was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. Bill Gogolewski earned the save for New York (N), his 37th. The Marlins, now 42-84, have lost 4 straight.
Frank Robinson went 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for New York (N). The four-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jumbo Diaz. It was his 92nd RBI of the season.
Robinson said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
