Mariners Deal Tigers 3-2 Defeat
|
The Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers played an entertaining game for Tiger Stadium patrons.
Seattle Mariners starter Logan Gilbert turned in a sparkling performance against the Detroit Tigers, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Gilbert got the win, improving to 15-5. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Bobby Jenks was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 37 of 39 save opportunities.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from shortstop Glenn Wright. For the game, Wright went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 24th home run of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.
After the game, Seattle manager Tyler Jorgensen applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Seattle, at 84-39, is 8½ games up in the American League.
