Seattle Beats Milwaukee, 5-3
|
Seattle pitcher Tom Brewer had a large part in his team beating the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Bobby Jenks earned his 36th save in 38 chances. Seattle leads the American League by 8½ games.
Seattle used a clutch at-bat from Hubie Brooks to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Tom pitched his heart out," said Seattle manager Tyler Jorgensen.
