Drysdale Silences St. Louis Bats
|
The New York (N) Mets went home winners at Shea Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Don Drysdale. Drysdale stifled the St. Louis Cardinals, enabling New York (N) to grab the 4-1 win. New York (N), at 84-36, is 7 games up in the National League.
Drysdale, who dominated for New York (N), earned the victory to move to 17-3. He was in control the whole game, scattering 3 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 10. St. Louis batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Drysdale.
