Giants Slap 3-1 Loss on Houston
|
San Francisco Giants starter Phil Ortega was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Houston Astros, 3-1. Ortega, now 10-9, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Garrett Olson recorded the save for San Francisco, his 27th of the season.
San Francisco left fielder Ed Stroud contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 21st hit of the season and put the Giants ahead, 2-1.
Stroud called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The loss makes Houston 55-65.
