Adam LaRoche, who finished 3rd in the NL in batting average with .343 last year, led Montreal to a triumph over Texas. The final score was 11-5. The first baseman went 3 for 4, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 3 runs and added 1 RBI. Montreal pitcher Pat Caraway got the win. He's now 1-1. Don Durham was tagged with the loss. Texas, with the loss, is 6-6.

Gerardo Parra had a big run-scoring triple for the Expos in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Montreal leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Don Durham and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Expos ahead, 3-1.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Montreal skipper Marwan Najdawi.
