Pete Ward helped his team muscle past the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-4. In the game, the Arizona third baseman belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Yhonathan Barrios wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save. The 4th-place Diamondbacks have won 4 consecutive games.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Whitey Wietelmann? The Arizona second baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Diamondbacks on top, 6-4. For the game, Wietelmann had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
