Expos Dump Minnesota, 5-2, to Win 5th in a Row

No one was more impactful than Rafael Palmeiro in the 5-2 Montreal win over Minnesota. Palmeiro, who finished 4th in the AL in wins above replacement with 5.8 in 1987, went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs. Rex Brothers picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Vern Law was tagged with the loss. The save was credited to Lefty West, his 6th.
Montreal took a 3-2 lead on Todd Hundley's 26th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Hundley hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Minnesota pitcher Vern Law visibly frustrated.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Palmeiro said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
This win makes it 5 in a row for Montreal.
