The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the New York (N) Mets, 6-3, at Miller County Field. Milwaukee third baseman Bobby Cox had a superb performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Pete Smith picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 9. On the season, he is now 6-6. Jeff Montgomery closed it out for his 1st save.
With Milwaukee leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Cox hit a fastball from Chris Holt for a 2-run home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Brewers ahead, 3-0.
Cox said his team "played with a purpose."
New York (N)'s current losing streak has reached 4 games.
