Bottomley Helps Arizona Cruise to 10-3 Win
Due in large part to first baseman Jim Bottomley, the Arizona Diamondbacks sunk the Texas Rangers, 10-3. Bottomley went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Frank Baumann earned the win to go to 10-8. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work. The Diamondbacks have now won 5 straight.

With Arizona leading 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Bottomley hit a fastball from Don Durham for a 3-run home run. It was his 34th home run of the season and put the Diamondbacks ahead, 7-1.

"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Bottomley told the Arizona Observer.
