Boston Beats Texas in 11-Inning Thriller
|
Starting pitcher Brad Halsey gave the Boston Red Sox a rock-solid performance, helping them defeat the Texas Rangers, 3-1, in 11 innings. The winner was Boston reliever Tom Gordon, now 7-7. The loser was Felix Heredia. The Red Sox improved their record to 38-68 with the win over Texas.
The decisive blow was delivered by Lou Stringer in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 20-year old left-handed pitcher Felix Heredia to win the game for Boston. The home crowd went nuts.
Boston manager Doug Morton called it "a darn good win."
