Despite a fine performance by designated hitter George Shuba, the Montreal Expos lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-6. Shuba was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The Diamondbacks now have a mark of 57-46.

Jay Bruce was the walk-off hero for Arizona. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Diamondbacks center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"The crowd was boisterous today," said Bruce.
